I was so lucky that this time i had an opportunity to shoot “Perang Pandan” in Bali. It has been awhile since my journalism photos, quite busy for sometime….. so excited when my friend,Putu, asked me to join him… Perang Pandan was held every year as a Balinese ritual at Tenganan Pegringsingan, Manggis, Karangasem Regency, Bali. Literally meaning “pandan war”, perang pandan is a man-to-man, or child-to-child battle using a thorny pandan (wild screwpine) leaves bunched into a club, with only a perisai or woven bamboo shield as protection. They are fighting each other for nothing except for joy, friendship and the rite itself. They are friends, brothers, sisters, and other relatives. Enjoy….
We choose Santa Monica California for Mathew & Nita’s engagement photo shoot. They told me that they had special memories there. It was a breezy cold night but it didn’t bother us to take great photos:) and of course my favorite kissing pose everywhere..hahhaha So, here they are…Mathew & Nita Cheers…
